Part-time specialist teacher vacancy in London

The Bloomfield Learning Centre is a charity, based at London Bridge, providing assessments and one-to-one Spld tuition across the age range, including young adults.

We are looking for a part-time teacher, for 2 days/week, although hours are flexible and can be spread over 3 or 4 days, if preferred. Ideally, we'd like someone who can offer some after-school teaching.

Teaching is face to face, in the Centre and in schools, as well as virtual on Zoom.

All applicants must have a minimum OCR level 5 SpLD or equivalent.

The Dyslexia Guild Annual Summer Conference - 8 July 2022, University of Bath

 The Dyslexia Guild membership body, welcomes all those with a professional interest in dyslexia and SpLDs, including specialist teachers and assessors, psychologists, learning support tutors and assistants. Guild members enjoy a preferential rate and we welcome new members to our community from all settings. 

The conference provides, as always, a great opportunity to meet and network with dyslexia/SpLD specialists, it enables practitioners to hear expert views and examine current topical issues relating to literacy and dyslexia/SpLD in a warm and vibrant conference setting. 

What can I expect?

You can expect a warm welcome from our friendly Dyslexia Guild and Dyslexia Action teams, meet researchers and other professionals working in the sector, browse our Dyslexia Action Shop and a selection of other exhibitors, and enjoy a networking lunch. Why not benefit from taking time out of your daily schedule to learn, debate and reflect on cutting-edge practice. An attendance certificate will be provided for your CPD portfolio. Dyslexia Research Priorities focus group

Dr Cathy Manning, University of Reading, has a new project she is working on in collaboration with the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity. They are asking people with dyslexia and family members or caregivers about what their research priorities are so that future research efforts can be guided towards the areas that matter most to the dyslexia community. Might you or someone you know be interested in taking part?
 
For this project, we are looking for adults with dyslexia (aged 18 years and above) and parents/carers/immediate family members of individuals with a dyslexia diagnosis.

Vacancy: Professional Associate Dyslexia Assessment

I am an APC holder and have been diagnosing dyslexia in all ages, as well as ADHD and dyspraxia in adults, for over 20 years. I run my own business in the Derbyshire / Yorkshire / Nottinghamshire areas and am looking to work with another Level 7 assessor part-time as a professional associate. The successful candidate would be provided with client referrals, test materials, assistance in test administration, mentoring in the assessment and report writing process, as well as administration support. Just added to the Guild Conference line up: Online Teaching - Showcasing the Dyslexia Action Literacy Programme (DALP)

We have just added a new presentation to our our Guild Conference line up, Friday 8th July, University of Bath.

Expert tutors will demonstrate how the DALP programme can be used with online platforms and learners. They will explore the pros and cons of teaching online and the advantages and disadvantages of using different online platforms. You will be shown how to complete an online placement and how to structure and teach the DALP lesson. A useful toolbox of tips, tricks and ideas will also be provided to take away with you and hopefully support you if you decide to teach online.*

This presentation is suitable for anyone who has already had experience and training in DILP or DALP or other literacy programmes.  Following the presentation there will be an opportunity to ask questions, including the presenter’s experiences of using different platforms across different age groups.

*Please note you must already be trained in DALP to teach it online.

Access Arrangements Update course for 2022/23 is here!

We are delighted to announce that our FREE Access Arrangements Update (AAU) is now available online! If you have registered for this, or our AAU course from previous years, you will now have access to the 2022/23 material through your existing Campus Online login.

Make sure to share the details of this free course if you have any colleagues who are qualified access arrangements assessors, either having completed our CPT3A course or an equivalent course with a different provider.

In addition to an overview of the changes, training videos, questionnaires, new Form 8 and activities, our Access Arrangements Update Course will include a video Q&A with Nick Lait, Head of Examination Services at the JCQ. This is a great opportunity to see Nick discuss rules and processes of the updated guidelines.

UK Summer Read Aloud Challenge

UK Summer Read Aloud Challenge which is powered by Fonettti and runs throughout the summer holidays. 
The free 21-day challenge is suitable for children aged 5-11 years.

All they need is a tablet to access hundreds of fun, illustrated books. During the challenge there are key milestones to encourage continued reading, including numbers of books read, reading duration and accuracy stars achieved.

Once a child completes a level, they receive a certificate and can carry on reading to enter the Hall of Fame.
