Individual Unit SpLD Specialist Teacher Extension Course - Developing Placement Processes to Effectively Target Specialist Support.

Developing Placement Processes to Effectively Target Specialist Support.

This course is the first in a series of courses relating to the Dyslexia Action Literacy Programme (DALP).  No prior knowledge of the programme is needed, though participants are expected to have a working knowledge of a structured, multi-sensory literacy programme or hold a qualification in specialist teaching or speech therapy.

The course describes the features of three different placement systems and participants will study these in order to gain understanding of the pros and cons of different placement methods.  As part of this study issues such as the interpretation of spelling errors and ways to categorise different aspects of literacy are also considered.

Please note that this course does not train teachers as dyslexia/SpLD specialists or involve a teaching practicum.  This training is covered in the Dyslexia Action Professional Certificate in Structured Teaching Intervention (at Masters Level 7) and in the Dyslexia Action Certificate in Strategic Teaching Support for Dyslexia and Literacy at Level 5.  See www.dyslexiaaction.org.uk
