Dyslexia Guild Annual Summer Conference 2012

Wednesday, 8 August, 2012 - 13:12

This year’s Guild Conference was held at Nottingham University and despite the wettest June since [[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"704","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"185","style":"text-align: right; width: 310px; height: 185px; float: right;","width":"310"}}]]1910, members braved the elements (both outside and inside the venue!) to meet up.

We were pleased to welcome our keynote speakers Dr Joni Holmes from Cambridge University, Dr Amelia Roberts from The Dyslexia SpLD trust. Dr Lindsay Peer, well known author and Dr Sheila Riddell from the University of Edinburgh. We were equally pleased to welcome our seminar speakers and a host of delegates both Guild members and potential members.

Our Chief Executive Kevin Geeson introduced the conference and highlighted the publication ofDyslexia Still Matters, the latest report produced by Dyslexia Action that looks at where we are now in terms of identification and provision for dyslexia/SpLD, and examines the potential challenges of the proposed reforms to SEN education.

We hope you will find the downloadable presentations of benefit and enjoy the selection of photos we have included here to remind you of the event. As always we look forward to hearing from you with suggestions for future events. Details of next year’s venue will follow soon.
