The aims of this one-day attendance course are to:
• To raise awareness of what the IDP is and how it could benefit teachers and Teaching
Assistants
• To raise awareness of the barriers to learning for dyslexic pupils/students
• To show how small changes to the learning environment can make a big difference to not only
the dyslexic learner but all learners.
• To improve teacher and TA confidence in their approach to working with learners with Specific
Learning Difficulties
You will:
• gain a better understanding of what the barriers to learning are for a dyslexic learner
• begin to see how small changes to your teaching/support approach and the learning environment can make a huge difference to all learners in the classroom
What students say
• (Head teacher) Best training I have ever been on – I am going back into school inspired. I want more of my staff to attend next week
• Really interesting – I feel guilty when I think of some of the children I work with and I have
pushed them to get things done without realising why there was a problem
• I can see that I can make some small changes and make a difference and that it will not just be
for a few students, but will benefit them all
• I was thinking of applying to do a specialist post graduate qualification and this has made my
mind up – I really want to know more
• I am a new teacher and I really didn’t know anything about dyslexia. This has been a
revelation
