Dyslexia in the Community

The training is aimed particularly at those working with young adults in the community, especially those who are disaffected, offending, or at risk of offending, and those whose dyslexia affects their potential as employees or trainees.

The course aims to equip people who are in contact with this group of young adults in the skills of recognition and with practical strategies to help them achieve their potential.

Course content and structure

The course involves lectures, workshops and the exchange of ideas and experience and covers:

  • An understanding of dyslexia
  • Principles of learning for literacy
  • An understanding of how language works
  • Strategies for helping with reading, writing and spelling
  • Strategies for helping with organisation, memory, speaking and listening

Attendance is for two days (10 hours in total).
