This is a stand-alone short course which can be undertaken by all those who graduate from the CCET (Level A) course, which accredits them to write access arrangements for public examinations both in the UK and overseas: GCSE, GCE, GNVQ, AEA, Entry Level, Basic Skills and Key Skills
- Qualify to select, administer, score and interpret a wide range of educational psychometric tests

- Gain credibility in the eyes of professionals, the British Psychological Society, parents and those being assessed
- Save on your SEN budget by reducing your dependence on support services
- On successful completion you will be qualified to write access arrangements for public examinations as listed above

Anyone wishing to enhance their assessment skills, eg:
- Specialist teachers
- Speech and language therapists
- Qualified SENCos
- FE tutors
- Teaching assistants
Course content and structure
This course involves part-time study by distance learning and will normally be completed over a few weeks, working one or two evenings a week.
There are two units covering :
- the evolution of disability discrimination legislation and associated practical aspects of making reasonable adjustments to cater for those with special educational needs
- assessing and reporting for Access Arrangements in line with JCQ Guidelines
Course materials are entirely on-line, with on-line tutorial support from Dyslexia Action Educational Psychologists and an interactive website. Learners are required to carry out an assessment on an individual and submit a full report. In addition they must submit a compulsory theory essay. Both assignments are in electronic form.
The course materials are developed and owned jointly by Dyslexia Action and Real Training. The website is owned by Real Training.
Course award
On completion students will be awarded the Certificate of Psychometric Testing, Assessment and Access Arrangements (CPT 3A), a qualification recognised by the Joint Council of Qualifications (JCQ) for writing access arrangement reports for GCSE, GCE, GNVQ, AEA, Entry Level, Basic Skills and Key Skills.
Course entry requirements
To enrol directly on this course you must already have completed, or be about to complete, the CCET (Level A) .You must also EITHER be a teacher, OR, be recognised by your Head of Centre (usually Head Teacher or Principal) as being suitable for the task of assessing. This means that some teaching assistants can enrol as long as they have the complete backing of the Head of Centre.
Those who do not have CCET should enrol directly on to the CPT 3A course.
You should also have experience of or interest in working with clients with dyslexia and/or other specific learning difficulties.
This course is run in collaboration with Real Training.
